How to get rid of Cellulite with essential oils

Cellulite is lumpy or dimpled fat that is generally found on thighs, hips, but, and stomach. 

The appearance of cellulite is not attractive, and most people find it embarrassing and hard to get rid of. 

Thankfully, there are several essential oils that have been proven to combat cellulite. This article provides 10 cellulite combatting essential oils and how to use them effectively. 

1. Grapefruit

Grapefruit essential oil comes from the skin of grapefruit is full of nutrients. 

This oil has been proven to reduce the production of fat cells and fatty tissues. Use this oil to prevent the formation of cellulite. 

2. Lavender

Lavender essential oil has many therapeutic benefits including burn treatment, stress reduction, immunity booster, and for muscle tension relief. 

As a cellulite treatment lavender promotes new cell growth and rejuvenates skin. This oil should be used in combination with essential other oils described in this article for best results. 

3. Rosemary

Rosemary essential oil has a strong woody aroma. Although this oil is well know for its ability to increase hair growth, it’s also a cellulite buster!

This oil combats cellulite by decreasing cellular fat accumulation and also by boosting microcirculation. This oil will both reduce and prevent cellulite. 

4. Mandarin

Mandarin essential oil can be used both externally and internally as a cellulite treatment, which makes this oil more versatile in treatment options. 

Because of it’s detoxification properties and abundance in antioxidants (vitamin C and E) mandarin essential oil assists with getting rid of those stubborn cellulite fat cells. 5. Cypress

Cypress essential oil has a strong green, earthy aroma.

7. Geranium

Geranium essential oil has a fresh floral aroma. This oil is very powerful because it contains a pinene, myrcene, limonene, linalool, citronella, geraniol, and geranyl butyrate.

How to use essential oils for cellulite reduction

Topical Application is the most common use of essential oils for cellulite. Studies show that topical application of essential oil reduces lipogenesis, activates lipolysis, restores subcutaneous tissue structure, increases microcirculation and lymphatic drainage. 

Using a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or olive oil, blend any combination of the oils listed above into your carrier oil. For safe use of essential oils stick to a ratio of 2.5% essential oil to carrier oil. 

A glass roller bottle is a great option for storing, and applying your essential oil cellulite  blend. Glass roller bottles generally hold 10ml of liquid, add no more than 20 drops of essential oils to your glass roller bottle. 

Apply cellulite blend over affected area 1 to 3 times a day and massage in. Massaging the area will increase the circulation and promote breaking up of fibrous cellulite tissue. 

Internal use of essential oils is  only safe with oils that are clearly labeled as safe to consume. Make sure you read your essential oil labels.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Only small amounts of essential oils are needed when taken internally, 1-3  drops is plenty, 1 to 3 times a day. Dilute in water or juice, and preferably take with food. Another option is to add the essential oils to a veggie capsule (empty fillable pill) with some organic cooking oil.
